A shopping trip

During Tuesday morning, I helped to lay the floor in the playground. That afternoon, Neil, Tommy and I headed into Londrina to do a bit of shopping. We were to get the wire rope for the zip line, the rope for the swings, a pulley for the zip line, the plywood for the roof, some dog food and some other screws and bolts and the like.

Our first port of call was the wood store, were we deposited the trailer we had been towing while we went to do the other messages (English readers: errands). Next, we went to the hardware store and promptly caused chaos asking for all sorts of odd types of screws, huge lengths of wire rope and bigger washers. It went reasonably well until Tommy and Neil wandered off to inspect wire rope and I was left trying to talk to the guy behind the desk. I did manage to get the rope for the swings ordered, but I must admit that it was mostly due to the fact that he knew the numbers in English.

From there, we headed across to the steel yard. Neil noted that the heat radiating off the roads made this area feel even hotter than normal. It was with disbelief that he then had to ask me to verify if the person in front of us in the queue was in fact wearing a woolly jumper, which indeed he was. Pulley bought, we then headed to the wood store and purchased some plywood in a fetching shade of purple. We popped in at a pet shop to buy the necessary dog food before then deciding that we could also call in at the paint factory to see if the paint for the swimming pool walls had arrived. This it had, and so we also took it back to camp.

The playground hadn’t changed much since we left, but this was due to the fact that they had been prefabricating things in the games hall and hadn’t yet installed them. We had dinner and then devotions, as per usual.
