Taking shape

On Wednesday morning, we installed the rail and balustrade units that had been prefabricated the previous day. While the main players in the construction were busily working away at this, I took on the construction of the steps. Noel and I set about measuring the wood and getting the various components cut before heading out to try to build the ladder in situ. We got two of the rungs in place before realising that the third one was substantially too short. After some thought and discussion, we decided that closer attention to the measurements was required and so unfortunately we had to remove the two rungs and leave the construction until the following day. Swimming pool painting had also been carried out during that day by the ladies and it was already looking really well. Another game of football was played before dinner and devotions.
